Iowa pheasant season
« on: October 19, 2009, 04:56:11 AM »
I wonder how the season opener will be, with all the crops in the fields still I think that it will be tough. We just went through the Minnesota opener and saw no birds and only heard of a couple being shot.
ANd its supposed to rain on Tuesday and Wednesday to slow the farmers down another couple days, I bet they are about a month behind on harvest because of the rain and snow.

Here in NW IA, we don't have any CRP left and the pheasants went away with it. Pheasant season is also bow season and we have still have does that need to be thinned out.

when i was out duck hunting the past few weeks, i saw quite a few pheasants running/ flying on the hills around our pond.  i am hoping its a good open because when pheasant hunting starts, the duck hunting stops for me!
