OMG! Chargemaster 1500 combo!
« on: December 01, 2009, 02:30:16 PM »
I just got my RCBS 1500 combo. I set it up, went through the calibration, thought I would through some big stick powder to give it a try.....

AWESOME! I am amazed at this tool. I was suprised at how fast it is. I was using 4064. I also use 4831sc and Varget, I bet those powders will run through it faster but I wish I would have bought one of these a long time ago. I also have a Rangemaster 750 that drifted up and down about 3-4 grains and was hesitant to get the combo but there is a huge difference between the 2. Just thought I would share my thoughts.

Thanks.

I picked one up about 4 years ago.  They are great.  Since purchasing this, I have not used my other charger.

I don't think that they are faster than the regular powder measure that comes with the reloading kit.  They are more accurate, but definately not faster.

I have one also. In spite of what people say about powder throwers (some true and some not) I would not go back to one for love nor money. These are just too convenient and easy to use. If you were were using a progressive press and shot the same loads all the time; a powder thrower is the way to go, but I do not own one. I still use a single stage press and the Chargemaster 1500 is a perfect companion to it. I have not personally used the Lyman, but I understand it is a good unit too.

I had almost quit reloading before I got mine and then was only reloading old proven loads, no experimenting at all.  Now load development is fun again.
Don't it feel good to find something that works like it is advertised?

I also really enjoy my ChargeMaster Combo for that reason. I wouldn't be without mine. Makes the entire reloading process just that much better.

pmang, in my opinion, you made a great investment into your reloading enjoyment by purchasing the ChargeMaster Combo.

I know what you mean.  It is fun for load development.  All you need to do is adjust the charge and load away without weighing, weighing, and re-weighing the charge to make sure you have it correct.  My best friend makes sure I bring my chargemaster to his house when I stop over just so he can load!

The only down side would be if you are loading large volumes with a single stage.  I don't see it being a problem though if you are a casual shooter.  If I were to shoot large quantities often, I would just pick up a progressive.

Overall, you can't go wrong!

The down side to this is trying to load volume on a single stage press.  The Chargemaster will speed things up though, it will be weighing the next charge while you finish up the previous round.

I think you'r only regret will be that you didn't do it sooner.

You can get them for under $300, you just need to do some searching.  No regrets here!!!
