Bergara barrels problems for the TC Encore
« on: October 15, 2009, 01:59:21 PM »
I ordered a Bergara 3006 barrel from cabelas. For my T/C Encore,on the FIRST shot the shell casing was stock in the barrel.Had two gunsmiths work on it and they could not get the case out without damaging the barrel.Cabelas is sending me a new barrel great. Has anybody ever have this problem.

I am shooting a Bergara .30-06 Barrel on my T/C Encore. Other than a forend bedding issue I sure have no complaints with my barrel. In fact I am quite happy with the way it shoots.

Anything made by man has the potential to have problems.  I had to send back a new 700 BDL 7mm08 because of a bad chamber.

I have 4 Bergara barrels -  .243 WIN, .308 WIN, .30-06, and 209x50 ML. Mine are all SS and shoot fantastic.  I inspected the machine work for the chambers and rifling very carefully when I bought them and I must say I was very pleased. Was the case stuck in the chamber or did the action stick closed? A stuck cartridge might indicate a flaw in the chamber wall.

my silly thinking were they reloads or factory? Were they hot reloads that caused over expansion?  I have seen it. If they cant get the casing out without damage, I would think the cartridge is melted into the chamber.

I would think there is a burr or over head space... I only buy tc. I like to buy american!!!! Check for dirty brass and dirty chamber!!! I had a rough dirty brass stick in a rusty chamber in my m70 once.  I ran a brass brush rapped in steal wool & oiled through it a few times and it fixed it!!!!!

Not yet Mirage until I get the whole scoop.

A Midway rep told me yesterday that TC have outsourced the break-open barrels. I heard it from another source a week ago & did not buy it at the time. At this point I am 95%, but I won't tell unil I am 100%, I don't want to spread false info. I hope to be sure next week.

I shouldn't have said anything yet, but I saw the "only buy American" comment, which I understand, but you
may not be doing that from this point on.
