338 Marlin Express
« on: November 01, 2009, 07:10:06 AM »
I just used mine to take a Mule deer doe and it worked great.  Only got 1 lung but the deer only went about 20 ft and tipped over.  Exit hole was about the size of a half dollar, the one lung was soup inside the chest cavity.  DP

You'l best trade that gun in "Quick" 'cause it is a Killer
Great stuff !!! a Job well done . Makes you feel a lot better having a gun that has blood on it, instead of a Tag with your name on going to the repair shop.  ;D
Did the same with my 338F tikka-just over 100 yrs. Right shoulder and out before the left hip .Inside was soup, and she ran about twenty yards .
Happy

You got it Richard.  Spent 6 days at my cabin, hunted every day and saw lots of deer.  Still got several tags but in a different area.  Our season ends 11-29-09 unless there is a damage control hunt or a late hunt called.  Had fun with one little girl who had her 2 fawns with her.  Headed her off and froze in the middle of a clearing just before she got there.  She come out and saw me, stopped and stared, come closer and sniffed.  Then a couple more steps closer and staring hard.  I'm froze stiff, not moving anything but breathing and she keeps checking me out like some stud pool boy at the country club. ;D  Turns and starts away, comes back closer and stomps her foot a couple of times, couple steps closer, looks at her fawns and then me again.  She got within about 20 feet of me.  For over 4 minutes this little girl checked me out before finally moving off.  Thought I was gonna have to scare her off so I could move.  Blaze orange vest, black carhartt coat and faded blue jeans, must be real good camo. ;)  Mulies seem to be more curious than whitetail, had fun with 3 others doing the same kinda thing, none hung around as long as that one, but none took off acting scared.  DP

Good story and I am green with envy about the rifle and the hunting!
“Owning a handgun doesn’t make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician.”

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
