Contender sling stud
« on: September 06, 2009, 09:36:24 AM »
Didn't somebody make a replacement grip screw with a built in sling stud? I've searched, but come up with nothing. I want to have a two point sling for my Contender, but I need a rear swivel stud.

Uncle Mike's(Lyman) makes the kit for the Contender, but when I called them recently they told me that the only place they knew of I could get one was from Fox Ridge.  It hadn't been too long since I had called Fox Ridge and had been told they didn't have them.  But, since they did show on their web site, I called them again.  At first they seemed quite confused as to whether they did or didn't have them, but finally told me they did and I DID get two of the kits from them.  This was about 3 months ago.  Good luck.

Excuse my ignorance about Contenders, Im new here and just bought mine used and I have this thing sticking out out the bottom of my grip.It has a hole in it and could be used to mount a sling to.
Is this what you are talking about?
Yorketransport, If you are having troubles finding it? You can have mine. I find it very annoying. Just send me the original screw, thats in good shape and I will send you this one.

Yep, that would be an extended grip screw made for attaching a sling.   And yep, with no sling attached they are a bit of a PITA.

I also need one of the grip through bolts with the built in stud.  I looked on the Fox Ridge site and did not see one.  I called and the folks I talked with did not seem to know anything about such a bolt.  Anyone have a part number or a solution.  Thanks, Brian.

Just found my answer to the above post.  About gave up looking for the part and went through Brownells catalog one more time.  The swivel set with special through bolt is available as a kit.  It is a seperate listing not found with the standard Uncle Mikes fit-met chart.  Brian.

From Catalog #62 (2009-2010) page 202, part # 3E23Y86.  Price is $29.82 for the kit.  Hope this helps.  Brian.

Thanks, someone is always looking for these. Actually 593-000-005AC is the part number to search Brownells for.
