The answer to that could go on for longer than you want to read, but I think a reasonable length response could be provided if you were to specify "as of" a certain date, since it changed over time...

at least the earlier north european bronze guns just had the standard weight markings
and "me fecit XXXXXXXXX anno ?"
trunnion markings from late 1700 in most cases
muzzle face markings I have never seen on a bronze gun

I marked my Cairo gun.

Rt Trunnion Foundry/Maker, left trunnion year, Muzzle gun number, Cascable ring gun weight.

here you got two very good samples of different locations and different ways to do it
one is stamped after the casting and the other have rised letters direct in the casting
there are also an slightly variation of the placement
here in the breach end of the cannon its almost always just the founders name and where it was cast
sometimes the year is there also if its not in any other location on the cannon

sometimes it say : me fecit + the name of the founder, but sometimes the name of the founder is placed first and me fecit after the name . I dont know why they have different ways to write it

the year are almost always between "me fecit" and location, sometimes writen as 2009 and sometimes as MMIX

I have just completed a SAMCC barrel and would like to mark it...Maybe BROOKS-USA SAMCC No.1 on the muzzel. I don't know what the etiquette is.

Can anyone steer me?
