Failed attempt at spray bombing a plastic stock please advise

Is there anything that will cure the paint or do I really have to use thinner to remove it all.  I had sanded the entire stock before painting but it still didn't adhere.  Stratches right off

Try Krylon Fusion paint, many here have used it with excellent results, colors are limited tho.

I've not painted many stocks but the Fusion paint is made for plastics and worked well for me in other applications. Be sure the surface of the stock is sompletely clean. I would clean with a solvent like acetone or mineral spirits to remove any mold release agent or other contaminants prior to painting. The is another brand of paint that's designed for painting gunstocks but the name escapes me just now. It has even been banned from NewYorkCity so It must be really great!!

KG Industries Gun Kote stock paint works well too. It's an air cure so no baking, and the colors match regular baked on Gun Kote.

Lacquer thinner as a cleaner/prep.  It well some times soften the surface of the plastic and give the paint excellent adhesion.

Prep is a must!

Aerosol can spray paint in general will not last through much contact at all.  If it did, there wouldn't be much of a market for anything else for the tactical crowd (although quite a few of them still rattle-can their weapons).

+1 on this, whatever your choice of solvent to prep the stock, most will soften the plastic and help the paint bond. I like Krylon with a follow up coat or 3 of matte "clear coat" finish, all available in rattle cans if you choose to go that route. Give it at least a week in a heated room to cure. Diggler is right though, this is not a real permanent finish.

I am assuming that you have one of the "Tupperware" type stocks that are truly injection molded plastic, rather than the kevlar/fiberglass hand laid type.  These can be a problem, but if you clean it with acetone, then use the Krylon Fusion paint for the base coat, you should be able to get good adhesion with regular spray paints on top of that.
