First Whitetail using my reloads
« on: November 22, 2009, 04:52:49 PM »
Well my reloads put the meat on the table! I been working up loads for the 30-06 all year and put them into action!  It was a 165 grain hornady btsp inter lock,I found the bullet just under the hide on the exit side! I have to say I will by another box of those! I also will keep using the IMR 4064! Yes It felt so good to harvest an animal with something I built from the case up! This is the first year I didn't buy a box of factory ammo. ;D Dale

Oh yes it's a good feeling. I haven't bought factory loads for my centerfire hunting rifles ever!

It is a great feeling as said and reloading in the first place makes it possible to get ones proficiency where it should be.

Like Tom W. I have never taken a deer using a ball that I had not cast myself (read Muzzleloader) or handgun ammo that I had not reloaded (.45-.44) or Varmints/Predators with the centerfire rifle.

Congratulations!!!  When I worked up my "whitetail load" for my 25.06...my groups really shrunk!  I got out to 200 yards this summer and shot unreal groups.  I confidently took my longest shot ever at a deer this season...250 yards. (off a solid rest of course) and put it right through both lungs.  Made me feel 10 feet tall.

You are going to ENJOY your venison this year more than ever.

Nothing like taking your game with your own loads.  Congrats.  Now you will want to reload for everything you have.
