Heck yes, that's a "freekin joke" Mirage.

It's a slap in the face to Pro Football players. That dude makes 4 Million a year more than Aaron Rogers or Favre, and poor Aaron Rogers gets sacked around 8 times a game. He should be getting 4 million a year more for that. ;D

It would be worth it to see him getting sacked 8 times per game! What about arod waving his hankie like a matador- that should be worth a few million too!

;D I doubt he'd have enough time to wave it. Call that beastman Jared Allen off this weekend. I swear I saw him in the white gorilla cage at the Boo Zoo last weekend. :D

I guess I'm not angry if a guy can get paid that forwhat he does. Its a free market and these guys have a talent that someone is willing to paythem ALOT of money for.

And skunk, we been keeping Allen in the Minnesota zoo in the gorilla pen. I think he had a bad weekend last week and is very angry.

I gave up on the sporting world sometime ago. For me, its nothing but a waste of time to watch these left leaning, bad examples chase a ball around.
Just to many other things to do that would benifit me and my family more.

I may start watching watching pro golf.  At least 3/4 of the golfers haven't been busted for drugs or beating up wives and or girlfriends.   Besides that they don't whine nearly as much as other athletes.

I have to go with Billy on this one. It's the fans that create those huge contracts. If the fans weren't willing to pay the dough to see him play, he wouldn't be making 16 million per year playing baseball.

Billy, once they take the chain leash of Allen and get him pointed towards the field, please try to explain to him that Rodgers will be no good for the Packers if Allen breaks him into 3 pieces. ;D Man, that guy is awesome. I just can't figure out why Kansas City would trade away their sack machine.

A very small percentage of people can do what professional athletes can do. Baseball is the only sport that a player has to be able to hit, catch and throw a ball. Its kind of like supply and demand. If many could do it, the many wouldn't be making anywhere near 16 mil per year. Baseball and other sports are entertainment, and people love to pay for entertainment. If they didn't there would not be any professional sports.

The nice part about it is, if anyone thinks they are good enough to play professional baseball or any professional sport. they can go try out, and if they think you are good, you will make the team and they will pay you big money depending on how good you really are. Just think, if you are really good you could make 16 or more million a year.

Personally I believe that to encourage children to consider sports figures, performers or other "pop" figures as "heroes" is a mistake. To me, a hero is one who risks much, up to and including his/her life..to do a noble and decent thing.  The LEO who goes under cover to break up a murderous drug ring, the fireman who truly risks his life to save a child or the thousands of troops fighting terrorists around the world...all qualify as heroes.
Someone, no matter how skilled, who is a mere performer in a paid entertainment event, does not qualify.

Of course that's just my opinion...

Agreed Ironglow-

Was a time when teachers were included in the hero list too, as they have more influence on kids than even their parents sometimes.

It is an elite few that make it to the top in any sport, but it isn't right that there is no salary cap in baseball to equalize talent among teams. The top two pitchers on the yankees make 21 million and 16 million a year (more than the entire salary of the minnesota twins)
