The .22 mag will never die.

I have one of the .17 hornadys also and I love it,
but the TINY projectile looses its energy far sooner
than the .22 mag.
At max ranges for these type of cartridges,
the .22 mag. still has the edge.
Remember the 5mm Remington mag?
It was far superior to the .17 Hornady and it did not live long.
What the .22 mag gives up in Velocity, it gains back
in retained energy. I would not count the .22 mag out
just quite yet.

Check the Novemebr issue of Gun World that just came out.  There's a good article on a head to head test between the .22 Mag. and the .17 HMR.

In this day of anti-gun /Anti-Hunting, I have to commend
firearms/ammo manufacturers for coming out with new stuff.
They are really taking a financial risk on new ventures.
I will do as much as I can to support these companies
through buying their products. Otherwise, they may be
not only obsolete in a few years (From Previous post)
But the companies that produce them may be gone too!!!

Buy a .17 Hornady (Or Other New Stuff) and shoot them lots!
Your grandchildren may thank you for it!!!

Guns don't kill squirrles, people kill squirrles.  I have a 17hmr and a 22 mag, both are good to 175 yards!  the 17hmr is better because I have shot it the most lately.
