I bought my 5 1/2" 41 stainless Redhawk in '88. For most of it's life it's had a Weaver no-drill mount with a Simmons 1.5-4 scope on it. I have shot 3-4" groups with it at 100 yards. My favorite 100 yd target was water filled gallon milk jugs; man, those things would explode and go flying !
When I had a health crisis financial meltdown, I sold it to my brother. When I got back on my feet he sold it back to me for the same price ! Sometimes keeping business in the family is a good thing, eh ?
I plan to have it until my son or brother inherit it. It has been accurate and 100% reliable. The only thing I have done to it is install a Wolff hammer spring. The trigger has smoothed nicely over the years. The Weaver mount uses the rear sight hole and a clamp. The clamp should be checked for tightness. If you shoot it when it's loose at all (like my brother did), it makes a mark on the frame. The Simmons scope has really surprised me with how long it has lasted and held zero, since it was an inexpensive scope.
