I have a 209x50 barrel ordered for my encore. I see a lot of negative postings here. Does anyone here just love their black powder encore? :-D

From what I've seen and heard, the 45 caliber barrels are the ones that give the most trouble. The 50 caliber barrel is what most of my buddies have and they are all very happy with them.

3 shot groups in one hole, all I can say is Encore 209X50 and Leupold. I think the Encore may be the best Ml out there right know. They can be a little picky on what they like to shoot but I shoot 2 Pyrodex pellets with a 240 grain XTP or 3 pellet with a 300 grain XTP with great results. Mine does however really like a clean barrel. after 3 shots the groups will open up a little. Good luck on your Encore Barrel I think you are going to start a new love affair.

Mine will shoot 2" groups at 100 yards with 100gr. Triple 7 (loose powder) and a 300gr. Hornady XTP sabot.  Bagged a buck with this combo last weekend.  Check out the post in this forum titled "Encore Wins . . . "

i love my encore 209x50.  3 shots touching at 100 yards is great in my eyes.  i'm using 2 pellets of pyrodex and tc xtp 240 mag.  the only thing i don't like is the crud ring but i only plan on taking 1 shot in the woods.   anyone know how to get rid of that?  other than that, i love it love it love it.

I must be one of the luckest guys about - because I have two of the Encores  one in 209x50 and one 209x45 (befor they switched ) and I love both of them for hunting and target shooting. Try the 209x50 and I think you will be happy, but remember it is still a muzzle loader and each one is diffrent and needs to have it's working loads worked out. Good luck and happy shooting :-)

David, is your 209x45 barrel blue or SS?  I think the twist of the original 45 barrel should not of itself caused a problem.  I'm thinking the cause of the general problem was something else.
WHUT?

:D The whole gun is S.Stl. and I do love it. Now my 209x50 is a blued one and it does one fine job on any thing I put the sights on. Hows your hunting going this year? I have been under the weather for some time and I do not think I will be getting out to the deer woods this year. Hope that the rest of you guys do better than ok this year.
