Synthetic stock for a Ruger #1
« on: October 11, 2009, 05:24:35 PM »
I was wondering is there is anyone here that has put a "Bell and Carlson" synthetic stock on a Ruger #1? Are the stocks lighter weight than the factory "wood", and is accuracy effected one way or the other? I saw them advertised on a "web site" and would consider putting one on my gun for "wet weather" hunting climates to save the "fancy" wood stock.

i purchased one but have not installed, it is going to take quite a bit of work to fit. it really leaves a lot to be desired. i do not know if that is normal or if i just got a bad one,so to speak.

I've had a couple of Bell and Carlson's in the the past, and one was for a "Pre-64" Model 70 Winchester in a 300 H&H that did not fit at all. I contacted their service department and they asked me to send it in to fit it, which I did. They did not charge me for the service and the "turn-around" was very quick. I was very pleased with their helpful service and attitude.

callec b&c this am. lady said "send it in and they would look at the forearm and make a determination of what if anything was needed". inquired as to an approximate turn around time and was told at least 8 weeks maybe up to 12 weeks.sounded like remington service on nef barrels.

Years back, I was in contact with a synthic stock maker for number #1s.

Sent them some photographs of the method I had worked out for bedding/floating the forend and never heard word one back from them.

I think it would be a good way to go if the Stock was any good.

Keep em coming!
