Hello Folks,
I searched extensively for ballistic data on the Monarch/Academy brand ammo. I understand there are two Monarch brands one Ruskie and one Serbian. I believe the PRVI Partizan stuff is what is sold as the brass cased reloadable Academy brand in the new red box. I couldn't find any data on it, just a lot of questions. Well, I finally went to the PRVI site after I found out who made it for Academy. I found the chart below.
If my math works out correctly(if it doesn't please correct me) then the 158 grain, .357 either in hollow or flat point would have a velocity of ~1607 fps, and an energy of ~904 ft/lbs. However, these figures in the chart are all based on 10 inch barrels. Anybody know what the velocity loss should be when brought down to 4-6 inch range?
Also, bear in mind, I am only converting their information to English measurements, I have no idea if the information supplied was accurate. If it is and my conversion is correct, then wouldn't the fit in the pretty stinking hot category. Buffalo bore's 158's only run 1475 fps and have 763 ft/lb M.E. Anyway, sounds too good to be true.
