Looking For 24 Pounders (need 8 of them)
« on: October 30, 2009, 06:55:26 AM »
I need eight 24 pound cannon balls for my Coehorn.

As you know, you can not buy these at Walmart.

Can anyone help me find some one who make these on the east coast? I'm wondering how much they cost.

I'd like to compete at the N-SSA shoot this spring and I need to find them by spring 2010.

Thanks for the help.

Don't the West Bros make them?

Did you post over on the N-SSA board?

I purchased mine from Paulson Brothers Ordnance.  The ones for the 24 Pdr. Coehorn Mortar (5.82" bore) are 17 lbs. zinc shells with the holes for the loading tongs and are sand filled with a wooden plug in the fuse hole.  They are pricey, but I have used mine over and over again so unless you lose one they should last virtually forever.  I shot one of my Mortars on the Lock N' Load show's artillery segment in April and you can see a stack of them next to the Mortar.

the west brothers price is 1/2 of the paulsons. and i have won many medals with them. it ends up about 30-40 dollars a ball.

you have to be a member of a team in the nssa to shoot your mortar. where do you live maybe i can find you a team to join. and what type of mortar do you have.

For that price I'd sure like to pick up some more.  Can you please email me their contact information?

My friend Damian has a company www.privateteermedia.com
it specalizes in 18th century movies and he has an arsenal of Muskets and cannon.
The Naval Academy ordered cannon balls from him for a shoot rather than going into thier museum.

I found this.  It is a supplemental sheet from the drawing packet made by TR West for the Confederate 12 and 24  PDR's

Google seems to like that phone number.

It appears they have a webdesign business  http://www.coastalbaywebdesign.com/home.html

Let us know what they have in the way cannon balls.

Hey Dan, it appears they built the N-SSA website.  I'll send you their emails so you can see if they can help you get in.

rampa room artillery,

Thanks for the offer to help brother!

I'm a member of the 15th Ohio Artillery.  We are on the left side of the bridge all the way back against the woods. It's a heck of a walk to the bridge but I don't mind it.

Okay, the person you want is Jamie West at 757-868-9416.  A set of eight will run you $275 and he is planning another casting run in January.  I just spoke to him to order three sets myself.
