20 gauge slug barrel
« on: November 04, 2009, 02:58:06 AM »
I just purchased a Pro Hunter 20 gauge slug barrel for my Encore. I was wondering if anyone out there has had any luck with a particular slug. I have some Remington Ultra bonded and some Lightfields to try. I would appreciate any input.

I have had exceptional good luck with Federal Barnes Expanders - gotquite a supply about 3-4 years ago on sale, so I don't know if they are still available.I also tried Lightfields(?) but did not hold groups past 50 yds. It's a great combo. I just took my Encore out Monday night - I didn't use it last year due to rifles being allowed in my part of NY, so I used my Marlin 44 Leveraction. I think I am going to pay alittle more attention the the Encore this year.

Hope you have as good of luck as I have with mine !

I have tried the hornaday sst and remington copper solids. At 50 yards the copper solids were 3 shots touching and the sst's were about 3"-4".I have only shot it about 20 times.I'm going to get some more slugs and try it again

I think i'll get some more copper solids, some lightfields, and some barnes expanders to try.I have only shot the 2 3/4 shells.I just go a new scope 2-7x32 nikonto put on it and then I'll try it again.
