Krag rear sight, on a Handi barrel

A friend of mine gave me a Krag rear sight. I believe it is a Krag, sure fits the barrel nice. My plan is to install the sight on my 44 mag. handi barrel.
I can use one of the scope base holes for the front, I need to D & T a new hole for the Krag rear mounting hole.
What size hole does H&R, D&T for the Scope Base ? IIRC, it is a 6/40.

What say you ?

It would be especially nice if you soldered a peep arrangement like the Friendship Cheater on the blade.
