Is this a good scope?
« on: November 09, 2009, 03:32:11 PM »
I just inhereted a Bushnell Sportview "quad-power" scope. It's 5-20X-40. Has an adjustable objective and target turret for elevation but not windage. Is this a reasonable scope for a smallbore newbie?

I would say yes with some reservations.  I have a Sportview 4-12X40 on my Hornet barrel that I use for Hunter Pistol.  It does not have a target turret but since the Hornet shoots so flat that I only change 4 clicks from chickens to rams.  It has been a very good scope and the repeatability from rams to chickens has been good.  My reservation is that I cannot comment on repeatability when you are turning the turret up and down as much as you would need to with a 22LR.  I suspect it will work just fine.

You can only hit the target if the barrel is pointed in the right direction when the bullet leaves the barrel.
