Where did they all go, Win 1895 krag carbines
« on: September 29, 2009, 11:34:56 AM »
Every now and again I checkout the Davidsons website for my wish list items, (1 of everything ;)).

I noticed that the some six dozen or so Win/USRAC/BACO/Miroku M95 Saddle Ring Carbines (SCR) are no longer listed :(.

It was a slower selling product, but I hope that they don't take'em all back and add gold plated engraved embelishments and increase price by another $1000-$2000.

Hey maybe a new western is going to come out.   :)
Hopefully it will be a good one.

Check out CDNN. I think they have them.

Well I see today that Davidson's gallery of guns has four (4) Win 1895 carbines listed again in caliber 30-40 krag. :)

I have been checking on these 1895's for about 2 years, and thats how long it took for the count to go down from 99+ in Oct 2007 to 69 in August 2009.  I always figured that I could put the Krag perennial last on my list as there seemed to be no rush to buy at the time.  Was surprized to see zero (0) as recent as 30 Sept.  Also other models also disappeared, such as dozens of Win. 1885 in slow-selling caliber 32-40.  Hope those guys are not playing with numbers just to create gun market panic or to make it look like my last chance is near.

A re-make Rough Riders movie would be nice; (I read the hardcopy 1902 book this last week).

Or are they sending them to a gunsmith to have them made from 30-40K and 32-40 into something else that would sell faster?

The latest CDNN catalog lists the Krag carbine at $997.00 in either 30/40 krag or 30/06. Maybe they bought up Davidson's remaining stock?
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

Looks like Winchester may be about to (or already has) introduce more 1895's :) in 30 US and '06..

And with 24" barrels, checkered wood and flat shotgun butt plate and about $460 less than 22" carbines.

Not sure what they mean by spur hammer though - (no pictures on GoG yet).
Hope they come with pre-D&T holes for receiver peep sights.
