Recoil level on the 28 gauge pardner

I have a pardner 410 and thinking about having it sent off for the 28 barrel for grouse/quail hunting.  

But I need to be wary of recoil levels (messed up shoulder).  I tried the 20 gauge once, but even though it had a limbsaver...after a few target loads I had to quit.  Too much for me.  But my 410 with a slip on limbsaver I can shoot all day without a problem.  

I need to know if the 28 gauge kick is closer to the 410 or the 20 gauge.  Id be sticking to the lighter 3/4 ounce loads.  If its closer to the 20 I may have to stick with the ol' 410 and get lots of practice!

It is about halfway between the two recoil wise. You will find it a whole lot easier to hit with than a .410 though

Don't know if you've tried them but Fiocchi makes a 20 ga low recoil round.  Available with 3/4oz of #7 1/2 or #8.

I bought a box from Midway a couple years ago just out of curiosity and shot a few rounds to see how they felt.  They are definitely lower recoil than normal 7/8oz target or dove loads.

Midway still lists them for $7.99 a box, cheaper than another barrel, might be worth a try.

id say  real  close to a 410 3in?  but not near the snap of a 20 ga ,

I agree the 28 is closer to 410 than the 20 but gives much better pattern and punch than the 410... get the 28 and about the only time you will go back to the 410 is when your out of 28 loads Kurt

I'd say slightly more than a 410. Patterns very nice compared to a 410 too.

i  shot  with  my  right  hand [left handed  here]

for  2 years  after  an accedent at  work

i  shoot rifles  either  way
shoot  shot  gun  mostly  right handed
handgun  left  handed  now....mostly


takes  about  a month  to make the switch

I just ordered a case for less than $7 a box, a case shipped for about $90
My Daughter will use these to get used to her 20 gauge pump and I'm going to try them too!
