winchester 69a scope base
« on: November 10, 2009, 10:07:01 AM »
Ok first off I know I'm going to catch alot of flack over possibly doing this this to my old winchester 69a 22lr. I have been wanting to mount a scope on it I know it's going to depriciate the value imencly but I've been thinking about have it drilled and tapped for a weaver base since the one I have isn't the variant with the dovetail grove for a scope. I wanted to know if anyone knew what number weaver base it took i'd heard that model 80 bases will fit. Any info would be great thanks.

Why not have a gunsmith machine scope grooves atop the receiver ?

Good idea, I'm a machinist as well do you know where I could get the dimensions of the grooves? IE the distance apart and the angles?

The dimensions are identical to any other grooved .22 you can lay your hands on as a sample, since the grooves have been standardized since St. Peter was a Corporal.  ;)
