9.3 x 57 mm in 98 mauser
« on: November 11, 2009, 06:11:57 AM »
Birdhunter, I got the 9.3 x 57 dies in last week and got to load some test ammo for the rifle.  I loaded in 1 gr. increments of H 4895 powder using the 285 gr. pp bullets.   42.0grs.  no pressure signs- 1 3/4"
43.0 grs. no pressure signs- 17/8"         44.0 grs no pressure signs  17/8"      45.0grs  very little pressure sign  1/1/2"   best group so far      46.0grs 1 7/8" showing some pressure but not much. Measured case heads none varied .0002 after firing.  Primers were all rounded in their pockets and were starting to flaten @ 46.0 grs.  I hope to do some more testing later,  I must leave it now as I am trying to make some deer and pig hunts and work as well.   The above mentioned loads were shot in a Mauser mod. 98 in very good condition with zero headspace.  I do not recommend any of these loads to anyone.  Will post more info later.  Bill439
