Marsh Al Contender barrels

I've been offered a deal that seems too good to be true on a Marsh Al 45-70 contender barrel.  Odd, I've been around contenders for a very long time...almost 20 years and never seen one of his barrels...only ever heard one thing about him and it wasn't good.  Can someone fill me on on these barrels?
