I would say the bullet did it job excellent on this large doe out of n.y. in the start of the regular deer season.
My son shot this with his cva optima pro 29" barrel using the remington 275 grain Remington core-lock 44 cal. bullet/sabot two triple 777 pellets 100 grain of powder. The shot about 80 yards broadside
The deer did go about 60 yards after the shot placed in the boiler room 1/2" hole in 3/4" out excellent blood trail.
The n.y.s. deer season so far turn up 1 doe for meat this year.I myself passed on a few smaller bucks on opening day but we all did see a few deer on saturday .The dec check her out to be 2 years old she did o.k. on the farms corn fields

Good job by the bullet, the gun, and your son! That looks a pretty dang good sized doe there! Congratulate him for me! And best wishes for filling your own tag! :)

I have passed on a few nice does and small bucks in rifle season. My son like the black powder rifle and he uses it during the regular big game season
I will waite for the late  BP season to fill my deer tag with a doe dec: 14 runs to the 22 of the month i like my flinter
The weather here in n.y.s. is just to warm and the deer know it is hunting season so they move late,we need some snow and colder temp: to get them moving
