Today is VETERANS DAY!

Today being VETERANS DAY I would like to thank the members here on GBO and to all those VETS who have and are serving our great nation for it is you who have made it safe for us here at home.
By your sacrifice maybe one day my two young sons will never have to know the horrors of war!
I also would like to say I am sorry for the way our government has treated you.
To me this is unacceptable.
You all deserve the utmost respect from us and especially the government who has asked you to place yourselves in harms way on our behalf.

Although today is your offical day I think that everyday we should honor our military personal.
Gentlemen & Ladies, I salute you!!!

Lastly to all the members of my family who have served in every war since our great country was formed, I thank you.
To my brother who served in NAM (67-69) and has since passed  on a very special thank you.
You are greatly missed.

I started the day at Bassitti Elementary School for their annual Veteran’s Day Parade.  About 70 retired and active duty military personnel were there to march down the hallways for the kids; afterwards I read a book on the flag to a second grade class.

It was an interesting experience; the kids were respectful and seemed to be very knowledgeable of why we have a Veteran’s Day, before leaving they had to recite the “Pledge of Allegiance” for me.  They stood, faced the flag, placed their right hand over their heart and didn’t miss a beat in the recital.

Most of the children are dependents of active duty military, many of which are deployed.  These are special kids!

Thanks so much to all the Veterans for their service, honor, bravery, duty, and sacrifice for the greater good. Without you we would not enjoy the life and freedom that we have today. I can't thank you enough.

Thanks to all Vets- past, present, and those to come. I wish I was in those ranks, but an army doctor sent me home because I got sick after getting swarmed by bees.
