30/30 Barrel Length
« on: November 17, 2009, 06:42:38 AM »
Has Marlin ever made a 30/30 with a longer than 20" barrel?  Say a 24"?  What would be the optimal length of barrel to get a complete powder burn?

Yep.  The latest rendition was the .30-30 Cowboy.   That is not ailble Anymore, but they will put the 24" barrel on your model 336 for a price...

They made the 336A with a 24' barrel in a couple of renditions.  The latest being 1973 - 1980.  Presently they make the 336 XLR which is stainless with a 24" barrel.  If you want one of the older ones, there are a lot available on auction sites in 30-30.

Has anyone seen the going price for a marlin on the auction sites?  I can go to the local "large" sporting goods store and pick a new marlin up for the same cost!

Sorry that was off subject.

Anyone ever seen one with a 24" bbl, with the mag tube full length also that is not the hex barrel!  I always seem to want what has never been manufactured or has been discontinued.  :-[
