Benchmark and 34 grain bullet?
« on: November 14, 2009, 02:22:58 PM »
OK, I have some benchmark powder and some 34 grain varmint nightmare bullets, and I'm confused. I went to Hodgdon site and they list a min. of 26.0 and a max. of 28.0 grains for a 32 grain V max bullet. They list a min. of 25.0 and 26.6 for a 35 grain Berger. So would I start with say 25.5 and look for say 27.3 as max. Don

I would stick with the 35 grain bullet data. There is only 1 grain difference between your bullet and the Berger, so you should be safe. Pushing the limit can be dangerous. If I can not find data for the bullet I am looking for, I just go one step up in weight and use that data, it gets you into the ball park and usually top loads do not give you the best accuracy any way. Good Luck and Good Shooting
