retiring my weatherby, how clean is clean?

So my old time favorite rifle, 270 wrby mag is going into retirement and stored for my grandson who is now just 3.  My grampa bought it for me as a graduation present 38 yr ago, its been shot alot and has always been kept clean and oiled, but after all these years I know there is a certain amount of dust and oil residue in everything from the trigger assy to the bolt itself. my ? is should I just clean normally or spend the cash and have it dismanteled and cleaned by a gun pro and store. if putting the gun up for extended storage I'd take it to a decent smith and tell him to clean and prepare it for extended storage. This would include a preservative treatment to avoid rust damage during storage. I use a product called 'RestPrevent' which applies a wax coat to the weapon and has been most effective without resorting to cosmoline which is a bear to remove.. Good luck and I wish I'd need given a MkV as a newly minted hunter.

Since he is just three now, you'll have lots of time to add to his future arsenal.  Maybe something a little lighter than a Weatherby mag would be best for a starter.

Maybe stock-up on 270 WBY brass ?

I saw in a catalog a while back that WBY was chambering for 270 WSM - instead of Ed/Roy's baby, 270 WBY.
Who knows what future might be for special cartridges in out years.
