Guess who I ran into today? Dom.
« on: November 08, 2009, 03:58:17 PM »
I came back to my display at the gun show after an errand and guess who was standing there looking at the cannons, of all people, Sir Dominick!  Yes I shoulda gotten a photo but didn't cross my mind.  I felt honored to have had the privilege of shaking his hand-if you can't tell what kind a person he is from his sterling business reputation, I can assure you he is a fine gentleman.

He helped in the attempt to determine the intended function of the mystery antique breechloader; we're still working on that question.

He's already engraved in granite on my "unforgettable" list just by virtue of his unique writings.  I save them all so some day I can be the editor of "The Book of Gary."

Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

Cannonmn,  Thanks for the compliment.

I found the photo of the rocker arm recoil system on a field carriage.  It is a 79 mm mountain gun designed by the French St Chamond company.    It is on page 126 and 127 of a book titled "a History of Artillery"  Ian V. Hogg   I'll upload the photos tonight.
