LEO's/crooks/Sergents/Generals: Good Books
« on: November 25, 2009, 01:32:29 AM »
Interesting Reading

Any good real life books about situations or events of military or law enforcement?. LEO's must understand crooks, and V/V. Generals must plan and Sergents must make it happen, different levels same goal. How much of the way of thinking can be learned and how much must be inherent? Survival and success, etc.

I read "The Tigers Way" by John Poole and have "The Last 100 Yards". Any other books anyone can suggest along these lines that are good reads? Also technical type reading, how to accomplish such, that are of a different approach and interesting.

I know intereting is different for different people but I have bought a bunch of books blind and after a chapter or two and some skip around spot reading looking for the good stuff, the book ends up in a corner or the trash.

Suggetions Appreciated,

"Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg- exposes the bs about conservatives being the bad guys and bigots
"Audacity of Hope" by H.B.Obama- I know it's strange to suggest it but if you don't read the enemies battle plan you're not ready to fight... he talks about the "third way" quite a bit and if you have read both books it's gonna get scary.

the marine corps had red books that are condensed college credit worthy courses, one is on leadership for fireteams and squads.... I read it and it cracked me up...

the military DOES have a pretty good philosophy for operating efficiently, it's the politicians that derailed that train   :D  I thought all my staff nco's and officers were boneheads- the pressure is lifted  ;)
