270 loads for h&r

ok i am new to the reloading thing and trying to find a good load for my h&r 270win.  i am loading hornady 130grain sst.  i have tried a few up to 52grain of imr4350.  seems like i cant get a tight group.   my question is would it help to tighten up the groups if i bump up the grains or should i just try different bullets? thanks.

Try a different powder.


When I had my NEF .270  try as I might, I never did get a load that shot as well as the factory Remington Coreloks, which at that time (pre obama) were about $10 a box at WalMart...

I've found that Varget or IMR4895 did much better job in my Handi 270 , than either H4350 or IMR4350 , and that was with bullets from 90g up to 160g .

For some reason the faster powders just out grouped any of the slower stuff , also the Nosler E-tip bullets in 130g did very well .

so is more of the powder that makes the difference than the type or make of the bullets?  thanks
