Nice CW arty photos I hadn't seen before
« on: November 21, 2009, 01:14:06 AM »
There are 17 old photos in the link near the top of this posting on the CMH board.  Many of them are good artillery photos I don't think I've seen before.

There's also a photo of Custer that seems to give some insight into his personality.

the officer with the beard with his one elbow touching the breech is Tidball,  who developed
the rapid movement of artillery during the peninsular campaign, he later became a brigadier general
and wrote several books on artillery tactics and use I believe he was also assigned to west point at some point,

My best friend and best man is kin to this man & has an original photo of him posed by the cannon like this.
Mr president I do not cling to either my gun or my Bible.... my gun is holstered on my side so I may carry my Bible and quote from it!

GREAT PICTURES!

Caption under the Napoleon incorrectly list it as an 1847 model, should be 1857.

I got a negative of this photo from washington.  I had a very large print made and had it framed.  It hangs on my wall now.  Very nice.
