Checkmate Bows

Anybody here shoot a Checkmate?  I'm seriously considering a Falcon with Red Elm limbs and a Bubinga riser.  They sure look pretty on the websites: recurves.com or archerybymail.com.  Seem like a lot of bow for the money and I have heard good things from other folks, just wondered if anybody in the Greybeard realm had firsthand knowledge...

I appreciate your review of the Atilla, and I considered that one for a while, but I don't really plan on hunting so I went with the longer length Falcon.  Mine is on order and should be here this week (it was an in-stock model as well).  As an aside, do you know anything about the longevity of clear glass complared to black glass for limb backing material?  I went with the clear to see more of the wood and I hope it will be durable as well.

Glass is glass.  The color doesn't matter as far as longevity is concerned.

I have shot quite a few chek mates and have yet to shoot a bad one. I shoot a chek mate crusader right now and have a longhorn ordered. In the past I have had a 56" hunter several hunter II's 58" and 60" several other crusaders and a falcon. The craftmanship is high end and they are affordable. Think you would not be dissapointed

Well my new Checkmate Falcon showed up this weekend and it is beautiful.  A Bubinga riser and Red Elm limbs with clear glass make a mighty nice recurve.  I haven't shot it yet, (still waiting for arrows to arrive), but for very little outlay of cash, I am in the game...

Chek-Mate bows are very high quality, surprisingly so considering the price. They are excellent entry level custom bows, and look and shoot like bows costing 2 to 3 times as much. I think you will be happy with any model that Cujo (Mark Morietz) crafts for you.

Here are 3 links where you can buy Chek-Mate retail since you cannot order the bows direct from Cujo. By the way they are made in Canada.
