COLD STEEL.......wanted
« on: August 24, 2007, 03:53:30 PM »
I have recently become aware of a knife that Cold steel has discontinued. I have been searching and don't seem to be able to find one on them...its called a Cold Steel DESPERADO.

Any one know where I might find one, or have one to sell?

Here is a description and PIC:

About the Product
5 in. Serrated edged, Clip Point styled blade that is bead blast finished made from 420 Sub Zero Quench steel. Innovative egg shaped Kraton handle. Overall length of 8.75 in. Includes Secure-Ex boot and belt clip.

 Thank you,
 CW

I have not ordered from them but they have a lot of CS knives. Hope this helps.

MY BAD....... :-[ :-[ :-[ They DID send conformation!! It was in my SPAM folder!!!  LOOKS like they may have it...or I AM soon!! Nothing was said about it not being in stock!!!

I also got a email back from COLD STEEL...... Seems they have none and know of no one with any to sell!!!

I have been on a bit of a COLD STEEL splurge lately... I bought about 10 that I wanted but didn't have... I just got a TALON neck knife today. I am still waiting for a Scimitar, SPIKE,TANTO, Bowie and Tokyo Spike version of the same to come in. ::) Told ya I was outta hand!!! ;)

The TALON is the one I just received:

UPDATE:
I have had this Talon for a couple days now and have been wearing and using it. It handles very well in the hand, balances well and with the addition of a thong to the handle is very fast to utalize. Its a very nice/handi knife. Not too heavy and easily consealed under even a "T" shirt.

Nothing on the DESPERADO yet, but its only been a couple days, I dont really expect it untill next week. I'll be sure to post up when/if it arrives.

I have several different knives that I carry at all times. My kids make fun of me because I usually have four or five knives on me. I always carry a little Stanley snap off blade razor knife with a pocket clip in my T shirt pocket. I carry one of my Leaterman or Gerber tools at all times, I carry the Explorer SAK in a clip on belt sheath and the Spyreco Native or the Spyderco Pro Grip or the Kershaw Black Out with pocket clip in my jeans pocket. Mostof the summer I wear a sheath with a folding fillet knise in it. In winter I replace that with a Mora 4 inch Laminated steel hunting knife. I have about 20 cold steel knives maybe 25. ;D

 WOW!!

I always have two pocket knives, one for back up defence (never gets taken out) and one for everything else. I also most always have a Leather-man. (That's got two more knife blades) My family and buddies all know I always have a knife too!!

I have to go count..but last I did I have about 70 or so knives, machetes and swords. I got a couple of those Spikes today as well!! I REALLY like them!!!  They may actually carry one in-place of my custom Crawford folder. (My backup concealment knife of choice) I must have 15 or so Cold Steel knives by now too!!

I have sent a couple EMAILS with no responses. I got notification today about the orders(?) one from the 24th and the other from the 31st, have shipped.

Interested to see exactly what arrives...

wow - knife warehouse....  I checked out that website, saw a recon tanto I liked, went to order and found out I had to jump thru hoops, fill out form, register, date of birth, phone number, on and on.
whats with these retailers - don't they want to sell anything?
why not just a quick address and credit card info?
I just refuse to be dragged along like that.
and whats this? they show a product on their site, accept an order then tell you "sorry, we don't have it. but you've got credit now!"  sounds like bait and switch.
they can shove it.

Hey CW - I have a large collection of CS knives with many discontinued models but I never bought the Desperado.  They made another series of knives with the same blade called the Vaqueros.    I bought three of them in the  5" length before they were eliminated.    As you may well know these blades are ferociously sharp.   I carry my folder every day and it always delivers when needed.   If you dont have it already go ahead and get yourself a Lansky CS sharpening "dog bone".   It is designed for the CS serrated blades and brings back that wicked edge very easily.

Thanks for the link!!  ;D ;)

But it kinda burns my arse...  I made numerous calls to Cold Steel looking for help finding this knife. I was repeatedly told none where available and hadn't been made in some time. They had none to sell. Now here they are over a year later as a sale of discontinued models.... >:( >:( >:(
I call that customer DISService!!!

I currently have two of these knives so I dont need any more.
