Hey! what kind of a report is that, do a little bragging, what load, distance, how far did it run, etc. Bask in the glory, you earned it!!

hey he got lucky!  DURING WELL-LIT HOURS he was close enough to see a deer through his sights.  or he really stalked the area well prior to the hunt... the only time I ever saw any deer close enough to shoot it was too dark to really place the shot (probably would have hit them... don't know where or even which deer though- almost dark)

or he's smart enough to scope a handgun instead of using a scoped rifle and iron sights handgun...

nevermind tell us the story please.....  ???

Not much story.  40 yrd shot , 240 XTP over 296, just ahead of the front shoulder took out the lungs and top of the heart.  Only ran 25 to 30 yds.  I really enjoy hunting with a handgun, its a "little" more of a challenge.  I got the Bisley last January , topped it with a 2X Leo that I bought from one of our members.  Its a fine outfit.  And yes , I will enjoy the venison , usually can it....little more tender that way.  Thanks for the comments..regards

Congrads irold!

I know just how you feel, first time out with my Bisley .44 Mag and I got one this fall too!  To much scope (2 x 6) for the 17 yard shot, took a bit to find him in the scope, I shot and he ran left around the other side of the Cedar he was stand next to for another broadside.  Had trouble seeing him again in the scope, I shot again, and he took off (boy my ears where ringing).  Two broad side shoots, and I thought I had missed him.  He only went 50 yards, lungs totally gone, 240 gr SWC over IMR 4227.

maybe I just suck  ;D    I had an eight shot this year... man I almost regret not taking any unethical shots since I came home empty-handed.  missing 8 times would have been hard- should of, could have, would have  :'(

Congratulations on your first Bisley kill. I have a .41 mag Bisley SBH Hunter and I think I am going to scope it with the 2x Leupold - at least for testing loads - then decide to opt for glass or iron for hunting.

Bow hunting is great!  Tried hard, but did not get anything this year with my Switch Back.

But!

The Ruger Bisley Hunter's really shined this year!

Not counting my T/C Contender Antelope kills, this was my first real pistol Big Game kiill.

chili is good but I prefer to just toss finely cut little pieces onto a skillet and brown one side, sprinkle some season salt on the top side and rub it in the blood with a spoon... when the top STARTS to cook through: take the skillet off the burner and eat it real rare.  too much cooking takes out the flavor (I can get away with that because my family does all the processing and missouri deer don't carry cwd and other crap)

This is my favorite handgun, a S&W 629:

The two does she nailed are long gone and they were good eating.  I enjoy handgun hunting.  It is a lot more intense.

Hey Uhrich, was that handgun scope a Leopold?  I have one and sometimes it is a pain in the ass to acquire your target in the eye piece.  I don't have that problem  with my other handgun scopes.  They make a great scope, but this is the only problem I have against their handgun scopes.
Just another voice in the crowd!!!

Lawful Larry,

It's a Busnell 2 X 6.  I am thinking of the trouble I had seeing my buck so close of getting something else that starts out with a 1 power verable.

Nice job irold...congrats on the handgun trophy. ;)
Ulrich...same to you pard...that buck has a TALL rack.

Squib, I hunt in Missouri too. It did seem like a lot of deer were moving late. I had several that were just too dark to try the shot. I finally got a doe on Friday at about 1:30 in the afternoon with my 44 special. Only saw one "legal" buck, and he was not real big so I let him walk.

And they ALL are trophies.

Congratulations, on the nice buck!  I haven't pulled the trigger now in 3 years. but after the first 30 I began to realize that the fun stops when they fall down.  I have shot several with handgun, but not with one that I presently own.  need to blood a .41 model 57, a .44 in 629, and a .45 blackhawk. that will keep me busy for a while....

I have the Leupold 2x on my 45 Hunter. It's a nice scope, but I too have trouble acquiring my target through the eyepiece. Reviews on MidwayUSA actually ranked the Nikon 2X better and it was at the time $100 less than the Leupold. However, I had a bunch of Cabela's bucks and they did not carry the Nikon so I got the Leupold.
