Lee,
I'm thinking the average retail on a new rifle is about $350. THere's one in the classifieds at www.sassnet.com for $285. That's a good price if it's an excellent condition rifle. Go get it before I do.

Reason I was asking is I have one in hand and the owner would like to sell or trade.  I just needed an approximate value.  Thanks.  I put a receiver sight and a front sight on for him and sighted it in.
I didn't have any interest in the gun until I shot it.  The last 4 shots at 50 yards were a group hole 1 bullet wide and 4 high(about 1/2" X 1.5").

My 1894S was payback for some technical training I provided for a friend in AZ last year. The wood is the most beautiful I've ever seen on any Marlin. This rifle and the S&W 629 I acquired soon thereafter are the 2 guns that are going to finally push me into the reloading world.

I bought a new 1894 Marlin in 44 mag Labor Day at Big 5 Sports and paid $299.00 for it.  Had looked elsewhere and would have to have shelled out from 310 to 350 for the same gun.  Quite a savings at Big 5.

How about the same question for the Marlin 336C in .30-30?
