Fodder for the 454
« on: December 19, 2002, 03:41:37 PM »
Any problems w/ lead bullets in the 454?  As I am not yet into casting my own, I would appreciate any tips on good sources of lead bullets that can withstand the velocities of the 454.  I am using D&J cast bullets now.  They advertise that they are good up to about 1300 fps so I am loading on the light side to accomodate this.

I push that 325 grain of Billy's to 1550 fps in my RB .454 Casull and that's not really a max load but it super accurate there so I don't see the need to push it any faster. That's become by favorite bullet and favorite load for the .454 Casull.

Thanks.  Any tips on where I can find these?  Also, I am trying to figure this gas check thing out.  I have seen some of these at Midway.  A copper disk that is cast into the base of the bullet?
