CJ,DD and CW,
Thank you each for the assitance and information and kind words.
Actually, I have 5 El Caminos awaiting body putty and a whole lot of other things. Like I need another project right! :-)
What I know so far:
Still haven't touched the thing.
The limber box does have Graves Battery, First Ky Brigade on it.
This was the 'Orphan Brigade' of Civil war era.
It would appear to be a reenactment cannon from the 70's, 80's time frame.
Probably used in SE Kentucky.
Have been in contact with the gentleman who is currently in charge of artillery reenactment for the KY groups.
Currently trying to find someone or some group who has a facility to accomplish the restoration in.
I curently have a 25x30 Steelmaster building, but is still sitting in an unassembled state. Running out of summer here also now.
I'm starting three record keeping books on the restoration. One for all costs , one just as a journal of day to day accomplishments and participants and one for photgraphs of the transition.
I hope to be able to get some help from local enthusiast as Hodgenville,KY, where I live, is Abraham Lincolns birth place and interest seems fairly high in reenactment and etc.
I'm sorry for the length of this but wanted to at least give some feedback as it has occured.
I'm also very lucky to be in a hard wood rich environment.
I guess that should be white oak rich, as a lot of the hardwoods are not acceptable for a moist environment.
Thanks again for the encouraging statements and advice.
Currently Kywoodwrkr but if this doesn't work out may just become Kyretiree!
