308 case length
« on: November 23, 2009, 01:38:12 PM »
In my books and on the net the 308 case is listed as 2.015 inches long. Why then does my Lee case length and cutter trim them down to 2.010? Will this create issues down the road?

Thanks,

HA

P.S. Thanks for putting up with me so far. ;) ;D  HA

MY Hornady book(4th edition) has the TRIM TO LENGTH AS 2.005". I guess the Lee tool is set for the trim to length! Be carefull how hard you push on the lee cutter. It can drill into the base part, thereby trimming your cases to short.

being a little "too short" is no big deal.

being too long is a big deal.

so i wouldn't sweat it.
I have it on good authority that the telepromter is writing a stern letter.

I thought I did the same to a bunch of .223,,then it dawned on me. "Don't screw it all the way down"
Ya know how hard it is to get down there with that split/spread thread they have on it? Well, I guess it's so we can adjust to what ya want,, I'm gonna trim my 7-08's too book ol, I'm using them in a NEF handi with a long throat, I don't think I want to lose any more than necessary, but as mjb said "too long" is a big deal.
