reloading for 6.5x55 swedish sporter

hello,  i have a sporter swedish 6.5x55 and loading sierra 140gr spitzer loading 38gr of imr 4350.  my question is that the book says the older military rifles were only for around 50,000 psi and the book i have does not give the psi with different charges it just list the min max and the fps for different ones between so i have no idea what my limit is with the charge.  has anyone else used the same powder/bullet combo and what was a good point to stop with the powder?  i am very new at this and dont want to keep going til i do damage.  it going to be used for hunting if that makes a difference.   thanks again.

I don't use the same powder/bullet combination, but based on the info. found on the Hodgdon site, your within your limits.

All major manufacturers use and build data based on the millions upon millions of military 96 and 93 Mauser's out in the world chambered for this grand old caliber. The data listed is safe in them. BUT, as always, start at the lowest listed loads (starting loads) and work up from there watching for signs of problems.
