Fusion ML bullets?
« on: September 10, 2009, 01:18:41 PM »
Has anyone tried out the fusion bullets yet?

I was shooting the bonded shockwaves for bear, but was persuaded by some that it isn't a good bullet for deer. i picked up some 265 grain fusions today, just wondered if anyone here has shot them yet. And by the way, the shockwaves work VERY well on bears ;D

Shot the fusions today >:( JUNK! At 50 yards the best I could do was a 5 inch group, tried 80,90,100,and 120 grains. Ended up going back to the 300 grain ss/t, but ran out of powder before I was able to get dialed back in completely after chasing the federals all over the target.

more than likely just need to get some new sabots to try out with that bullet.

That could very well be- they came with crush ribs, I didn't try anything else as I was sighting in my peep and a new scope and trying a new bullet. I know it was a bit much to try to accomplish in one range session, but I got half of it done anyway. ;)
I will be trying out blackhorn next year, so I just went back to what I know shoots well, maybe i'll play around with the fusions again next year with different sabots.

I shoot them out of my Winchester with a kleanbore primer, 100 grains ffg Shockey Gold powder, and scope they shoot about a 2 inch group at 100 yards, for me thats good enough.

What he said  :)

I've shot several deer with them in Iowa, and the dead deer look dead to me!

2 x 777 Mag pellets with the Fusion or TC primer.

No problems so far.....
