Rechamber question?

I have a 223 mossberg ssi 1 single shot rifle with auto eject, and as I have a number of 223 rifles was wondering what would be the best cal to rechamber with out a lot of work and expense. would have to have the same head diameter for the ejector to work

As said sell it buy new, Rechamber will cost $75-100 dollars. Not really any advantage too 223 and 222 Rem Mag, Maybe a few FPS more. Rechambers are fine prioviding the twist you now have will work with whatever you deecide. Lou

Not familar with the ejector on the Mossberg, but on the Contenders the ejector can be modified to work with the new catridge easily.

Could make yours a 22-250. Had a 223 Contender rechambered to 225 Winchester, but was too much for the action as brass stuck easily.

If you wanted to spend the money for a rebore job any of the TCU cartridges work well as rifles. There is an article in one of the recent gun magazines on a 7 TCU rifle. These use 223 as parent brass.

Deacon,
I recently did a chamber job on a 223 and reamed it to 222mag AI.  I like it a lot. This would work on a single since the barrel does not have to be set back.
The 222 mag AI reamer will clean up a 223 chamber just right. Just buy some 222 mag brass to fireform and use 223 AI dies to reload. 4-D reamer rental has the reamer and gauges.
