Menu for tomorrow!
« on: November 25, 2009, 01:45:33 PM »
Just sitting here listening to the wife getting some grub ready and was wondring what everyone is gonna be eating for Thanksgiving?

Turkey- deep fryed
cornbread dressing, as well as dirty rice(rice dressing)
Some venison sausage
Assorted vegetable dishes including fresh greenbeans and squash!
Sweettator casserole
Pumpkin pie-my personal favorite
Watergate salad( pistacio, fruit and cool whip) not sure why its called that?  ???
Pecan pie

Hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving, I'm thankfull for what God has provided!

I think I'll make a pizza. I don't feel like traveling to the big family gathering today because I have to get up and work early tomorrow. All the driving is unwelcome.

Appetizers:
Boiled shrimp with cocktail sauce, sausage balls, veggie tray.

Main meal:
Oven roasted turkey, sweet potato casserole, cranberry salad, seven layer salad, cressant roles stuffed with herb goat cheese, cranberry pecan dressing, gravy.  I think that's it.

The Lamb sounds great, the cucumbers don't like me and I have no clue what Arabian baklava is. ;)

I like the lamb/rice/bakhlava idea. We're overdue for a batch of bakhlava, so I think we'll make that for our Thanksgiving dinner at home tomorrow. We're having paella and a mediterranean salad. I didn't have a dessert idea until you mentioned this. Thanks!

Well I cooked 2 hams, green bean casseroles, mac and cheese's, and brownies and took it to Matt's Maw Maw's and my Nanny's.  There was turkey, sweet potato casserole, fried okra, chicken & dressing, giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, and almost any other side dish you could imagine.  Then there was tables of desserts.  My eldest son said Momma there are too many sugar stuff to choose from.  Thanksgiving around here is filled with good food, good friends, and lots of family time!  Hope yours was as good as ours.

Well whether you had pizza, turkey, ham or Baklava, I hope you enjoyed the day and the gathering!
My day was special it was the first Thanksgiving in 58 years that i did not have it with my Mother and her cooking, but I made it through it and appreciated who was there and what we have!

We had plenty of good things to eat, but more importantly, my grandchildren are here, and I only get to see them once or twice a year.  We could have eaten hot dogs, and I would still be thankful.
