Thats alot of reading between the lines .

If it's .50 start with 20 grains ffg with NO projo . Look for gas leaks at the casable that screws off .

Then just move up to 40 grains no projo . This is a game of not outrunning your headlights ,,,kinda .

I dont think with the maker you describe there will be any gas leak ,but thats gonna be a place to watch for
trouble but I doubt you'll top out at more 60-70 grains as a salute .

Not even a wad of any kind !

As you where smart enough to tell us you are a newbie , you have to see and learn what this black powder is and can do . And a earn and healthy respect for it . NO KIDDING  :o

What George was also trying to say :D is less powder=less burns .

Because you will get burned ,otherwise it would be like owning a Blue Maccau (large parrot) (the bird ,not the gun) and expecting to not get bit . ::) silly .

It happens .
 
But like George said You'll get less burned if you use less powder  :o.

But real respect comes with some pain even the fuses will burn you and good if you got your hand in the way .
 I believe humans come around sooner if there's some agony .

IN ALL SERIOUSNESS do NOT light a pile of powder with a match or bic or ciggerette because this doesnt fizzle like smokless powder it will go woooofff with fire and brimstone yep bothem  :D and B4 you you can even think about moving your hand you are burned to the point of tears ....Yes I've been there .......

You CAN have a ton O fun with it and with tour small gun 1 lb will suffice . Where do you live ? Fuse is avalible online , see sponsers in the stickys .

Just be darn carefull

gary is so correct, please be careful
read as much as you can here at the forum
there is tons of very interesting info here
the best for you would be to make aluminum foil cartridges with the correct amount of bp in it
check the stickies and you will find out how to make them
