Encores, BH209 & blowby
« on: November 03, 2009, 04:53:56 PM »
After seeing how well the MU plug worked in my H&R, I drilled out an old encore plug 1/32 deeper to accommodate an #60 o-ring. The exit hole was enlarged by .003 in.
Fired 20 100gr loads. Ignition was quick and consistent, even with rem ml primers, no blowby, firing pin bushing was squeaky clean.  Ran a dry patch after 10 shots and got a small amount of fouling but it made next loading more difficult. O-rings stayed put and looked like new. Clean up was easy, without water.
The project was easy and cheap and effective. $1.97 for package of 10 o-rings at Lowes.
I have been a lost child most of my life.
Since being born in a log cabin that I built with my own hands, it has been an uphill struggle all the way.  Being so devastatingly handsome, intelligent,  rich-beyond-belief, and humble have all worked together to shape me and my destinies.

Check in the H&R muzzleloader forum here at GB. http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/topic,164130.0.html
That should explain it better
The o-ring seals the blowby from a loose fitting primer

jjvw,
Can you explain the .003" larger exit hole.  What do you mean by that?
Thanks
