I stopped buying Levis years ago when they pulled their funding for the Boy Scouts and went anti-gun and a friend's son used to work for Progressive but quit when they too went anti-gun, as he is a shooter.
As for the ACLU - well, my first niece is a Field Organizer for the ACLU and has already accepted the fact that she is in my will to get one of my Kalashnikovs. She thinks that's a hoot. But, she is also dead on with the concept of 'rights' and is knowledgeable of the Constitution, its design and how the 2nd Amendment fits in the overall picture. She isn't anti-gun, and her younger sister wants my snubbie... She and I (First Niece) have had numerous discussions about 'rights', and guns, and she is no fool. She well understands the role of the 'Public Information Office' of the ACLU and that many of its broad statements against this or that simply do not pan out either in the courts or in public opinion, but the organization has its role in this society. She is definately anti-acorn and considers many of the members he has met to be little more than forest litter - she cracked up at her own joke, it was so funny. She3 is also a dead shot with a slingshot and acorns even though it usually takes 3 or 4 before the Squirrels get the idea to vacate the area.........
In this society we have choices. There are many who want other choices and all too often decisions are made based on the emotional outcry from select minorities that politicians fall prey to without considering the majority concerns.
If I had anything at all to say about this it would be that no municipality should be able to pass any law that restricts a Constitutional 'right' without going to a full public vote. I mean, this is so easy - the last time my township sought proposals to limit or restrict the hunting areas of the town, which were based on unfounded emotional concerns that were later totally disproven with facts, it took only about 50 hunters to converge on the next town meeting to speak loudly enough about not having any more restrictions like that that the town board withdrew its requests. Some of these hunters proposed that the town go to full public vote the next time it proposed any new restriction or law and the board backed away from that so fast all that was left in their seats were dingleberries. That sure seemed to work.
The hunters basically said - enough of your autocracy, go to public vote, and the board backed off.
Does anyone remember what happened to S&W when it was owned by the Brits - clinton, cuomo, hud and the Brits came up with a agreement that was so onerous that shooters boycotted the firm for only 3 months before they were forced to sell out and was purchased for pennies, literally. That's pretty fast work for public opinion and it works even faster at the local level. jmtcw.
