I was wondering if it is possible to shoot a 45 ACP out of a 45 Win Mag barrel?

as I believe for proper headspacing the front edge of case mouth should be able to rest on front edge of chamber. The ACP will be way short. I could work but not recommended.

I will not say you can or you can't BUT I have shot a few hundred out of mine.I know it has to be head spacing on extractor no way it can reach end of chamber.The 45 acp rounds shoot a 1"-1 1/2" group at 40 yds.I am not telling anyone it is safe or the thing to do.All I'm saying is I have done it.

I forgot about the extractor. I believe it would hold the case ok. Experience rules over! Thanks, Alan in GA.

your input on being able to shoot ACPs in the Win Mag has me thinking I need to go GET that T/C Super 14. Now,,see what you did? Cost me $329. The extractor on a T/C is strong enough to hold [I'm agreeing with you]and I think it is strong enough to even RELY on it being safe for lots of ACP shooting. Not that I would recommend it to someone,,but I believe you are right in that it should be fine,,,and I can see no reason it should not be 'safe'.  
Now,,,where is my checkbook. This is all your fault.
It's nice to be able to blame a gun purchase on someone else > HA!

Yea I once told my wife that I was buying a barrel for a friend then the S.O.B. would not pay me.What was I going to do I had to keep it.Good luck with the 45 wm I really like mine.
