Wanted piece of piano wire
«

I'm looking to buy a small piece of .045 piano wire. I'm trying to lighten up a Savage model 111 trigger.
Thanks 1Longbow

if you can't find the piano wire you can go to an auto-parts store and buy a carburetor return spring and clip off the long end and use that. lot of people around here do that to get lighter springs for shotgun trigger for guns used in shooting matches. good luck with your project and merry christmas friend, bubba.

Machine chops sometimes carry such but I reccommend a wire spring kit from Brownells.. They come in assortments of differing sizes covering a specific range and are listed by wire diameter. Not really cheap but a forever source for spring wire. Be cautious with the Savage trigger, too light can easily make them a danger..

Go to Savageshooters.com forum and look up 243shooter, send him a PM and he will probably send you enough for 3 rifles for the cost of a self addressed envelope.

If you have a well stocked sporting goods store, Malin SS fishing wire is commonly stocked, they make it in many sizes including .045", I use the thinner .031" for making spinners and the heavier stuff for spreaders, but I don't have any of it now or I'd send ya some.

Hobby shops usually stock music wire too. Listen to Gunnut - it's easy to make Savage triggers dangerous. Make sure the safety works and it won't fire when you pull the trigger with the safety on and then release it (the safety).
