I handload also and use the 55 grain power soft point, but I ran into quite a batch of these 52 grainers cheap, and am using them till their gone.

Dee,

Very good post!
Just hope that not to many feral dogs or domestic dogs find their way to a rare encounter with mating with these coyotes. Because then you really start to have a big problem!!

Not likely in this area. Coyotes most times will eat the dogs rather than cross with them. Here a couple of years ago I saw a black coyote with a white patch in his throat area which is a sure sign of a cross some where down the line, but he looked pure coyote. I didn't have my rifle or he would have been mounted. I think I'm gonna set up tonight and try to get one or two. Can't find my red lense though.

You are forgiven brother as that's no sin. ;) Great post.
There are always deer getting hit crossing the road by the woods next to me. Somehow they seem to have enough strength to make it to my 200yd backstop.  ;D I've not yet shot a yote over them but they sure get moved around alot when being eaten. Yotes try to drag them into the woods at night. Everything seems to stop by for a snack :) Buzzards, crows, and even an Eagle grabbed a little protein a few years ago. Got him on film, tried to sneak up on him for a better pic but he spotted me. ;) A new neighbor used to let his dog run and I would see it carrying a leg or other parts home almost dayly one year ;D   A short time later there were white flags all around his yard ;D ;D
There was a pair of red tails one year that took turns eating on one every day and then in the spring they built a nest in the woods where I could watch them feeding their young until the leaves blocked my view. Great fun! 8) Can't wait till it freezes up. ;)  Keep us posted you have a good setup there. :)

Weeelllll I went out for a while tonight, just got back a little aggravated. I missed one at about 130 yards while trying to shoot, and hold a hand held spotlight. I ain't gonna do that again until I get one to mount on the rack on top of my Jeep. That way I can pull up, focus the light on my bait and then turn it off until I have somethin on the bait. Oh well. I'll check it about daylight in the morning.

Dee, sounds like you have had visitors during daylight. I have a place I'm gonna try to put  out some baitsicles after deer season. It's hard to find a place around here that is secluded enough for them to feel safe in daylight. I may try in this one woods. The deer that find there way to my place are froze stiff and they last quite a while.
