Bought this old Winchester.......
« on: December 02, 2009, 06:36:07 PM »
Five or ten years ago I bought an old Model 94 30-30 at a gun show in northern Wisconsin.   My first thought was to replace the buttstock ASAP, but then it kinda grew on me..   I wonder who did the carving.  Does anyone remember seeing this in the woods?  Did gramps carve it?
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

Dunno how one might have gotten there from here but a long time ago we had a fellow in our gun club who started doing work like that. At first his work was pretty crude and made me wonder why in the world he'd mess up a stock that way but in time he got better and eventually he got darn good at it. He eventually moved to metal engraving and while I've not heard from him in over 20 years the last I saw of his work he was getting pretty darn good at metal work.

I'm not saying it's by him but it is the kinda stuff he used to do. I'm sure there are folks like him all over the country who do such things.
